Field Servicing
Field Servicing 101
Rocky Mountain Valve Services Ltd. was established in 1988 at Fox Creek, Alberta by Dwight Tiedeman to provide pro-active flow containment solutions to the oil & gas sectors of the province for valve maintenance.
Since its inception, it was discovered that there was a need from our clients, and their many adverse service conditions, for us to developlubricants, sealants and valve cleaners which were compatible to specific properties in their production fluids.
To compliment these products, was the need to establish routine preventative maintenance cycles which would enable the products to be effective.
Obviously it worked. Rocky Mountain Valve has expanded from its Fox Creek location 22 years ago, with its one service unit, and quonset, to offering to the industry three “Flow Control” service centers in the province.
Lubricants
Lubricants have also changed drastically in the last decade from using sealants, used for Mcevoy valves that was mainly derived from wood particles ( peanut butter) to the semi synthetic, high temp, low temp, 100% synthetic lubricants & sealants.
These have been formulated for specific fields in our industry and general usages. Not all lubricants and sealants can be used in all valves for obvious reasons, so only qualified technicians working closely with the operating staffs can determine what are the correct ones to try or use for different services.
At this point to assist yourselves we have put together some brief in sites on a few of your known current and non current valves with exploded views of the internal workings. This will also entail an explanation on how they operate and seal.
